F: Finding Your Voice in
Paint - William B .(Skip) Lawrence |
|

William B. (Skip) Lawrence |
William B. (Skip) Lawrence,
received a B.F.A. degree from the Maryland Institute
College of Art and M.A. degree from Towson University.
His book,
Painting Light and Shadow in Watercolor, was published in 1994.
Skip is editor-and-chief of the The Palette Magazine.
After you have
explored all the "how too's" of painting, you are still
stuck with the "why?" Without a clear declaration
of what one wants to say in one's painting, it can
become just an imitation of someone else's work.
Skip challenges painter to rewrite the rules their way,
to consider their choices and shake up their status quo.
Through lecture, demonstration and critique, Skip guides
each painter to refine their intention and express it in
new and honest ways. No one else but you can say
what you want to say in paint-why settle for less?
With insight, warmth and humor, Skip brings out the best
in each painter.

From Line and Shape to Complex Surfaces -
Gerald F. Brommer |
|

Gerald F. Brommer
|
Gerald F. Brommer,
N.W.S., A.W.S., W.C.W.S., R.M.N.W.S., is author of
numerous books and articles in art educational journals.
His most recent book, Emotional Content: How to Create
Paintings that Communicate, was published in 2003. Jerry
has twelve instructional video tapes, including
“Watercolor in Action-Responding to Nature” and
“Exploring Watercolor from Location to Studio”.
This workshop explores two of the major art
elements, shape, and line, and how they can be
effectively used in generating exciting
visual images. A variety of approaches
will be used, combining, watercolor or acrylic paint,
collage, pen and ink, markers, and found papers and
materials. A sequence of projects will lead
from an understanding and effective use of shape and
line to development of complex surfaces. A
unique and different direction will add another
dimension to your visual vocabulary.
The overriding goal is to help you achieve a new
freedom of expression, to develop another way to
develop surfaces, to explore alternative ways to express
yourself while working with watermedia and
collage, and to enjoy the confrontation with a new
technique.

Strengthening the Contemporary Approach -

his approach, including the following: AWS High Winds
Award (2007, 2003), NWS Silver Star Medal, AWS Bronze
Medal (2001, 1998), and the 1999 AWS Gold Medal.
This class will help you transform your paintings into a
strong, artistic, visual expression regardless of the
painting surface. Using surfaces such as canvas,
watercolor paper, illustration board, and other
alternative surfaces and any subject matter, the student
will learn to approach the subject in a more
